John 6:1-13
Jesus was preaching for a very, very long time to a crowd of 5,000 people. The people were listening very intently, but got very hungry, of course! The disciples asked the people if anyone had any food to share. It was far away from any villages to go and get food. No one had anything, but finally a little boy came forward holding his snack in a small pouch. Inside were two fish and five small barley loaves of bread. It was very sweet to offer his food but that was hardly enough for one hungry grown man, let alone 5,000!
Then Jesus asked the disciples to get baskets from the people and twelve were found. They took the boy's snack and cut it all up into bite-sized pieces and divided them into the baskets and placed a lid on top of each one. Jesus gave a prayer and when when they took the lids off the baskets, they were brimming full with fish and bread. This was an amazing miracle and all because this unselfish boy shared his food.
