The Good Shepherd

BACKGROUND/STORY

The 23rd Psalm which King David wrote and sang, starts off, "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want."

Why is Jesus the good Shepherd?  Sheep are built in such a way that if they fall over on their side, and then onto their back, it is difficult for them to get up again. They flail their legs in the air, bleat, and cry. After a few hours on their backs, they will die if no one comes and saves them.

When a shepherd comes along to find his sheep in that position, he reassures it, very gently turns it over, lifts it up, and holds it so that it can regain its equilibrium.

LESSON

What a picture of God we have and what he wants to do for us when we are in trouble, no matter what. Feeling very sad for any reason,  our loving Shepherd, reassures us with his grace, lifts us up, and holds us until we have regained our spiritual equilibrium. God is the only one who can help you get on your feet again.  He will restore your confidence, joy, and strength. What a wonderful shepherd our Jesus is! Thanks be to God ! 💕
