Solid Rock

SCRIPTURE

Psalm 62:1-8 Old Testament

The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, and whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

LESSON

What comes to mind when someone says, “He’s my rock.” especially when it’s a huge rock, like a mountain?  That’s the image I have in my mind because of the experience  I had which I’ll tell you about.

I hope you get to go to Yosemite National Park, which is not too far from where you live. Granpop and I got to go and I think that it’s my favorite national park ever. The park has these giant monoliths made of granite. As you peer up at them from the valley, they are amazing!

As I was leaving the park and looked back at that valley, I said to Grandpop, “Today, I looked up at the face of God!” I was overcome with emotion at the strength and magnitude of these beautiful formations made of solid rock!

Today’s scripture brings that image back to my mind every time I read it. God is so strong, so powerful, and so steadfast meaning nothing’s gonna move Him. He’s there forever, and faithful forever that we can always trust him to be there for us. Isn’t that a very comforting thought?

Maybe Grandpop had that image in mind when he told his grandchildren to remember the password. I don’t really know.       “Put your faith and trust in the Lord!”  Never forget that! 💕
