Do Not Be Afraid!

SCRIPTURE

Mark 5: 24, 35-43 New Testament

The way that scripture is noted is a little different. It means that it the story starts in verse 24 then continues in verses 35 through 43.

This is a wonderful story about Jesus and Jairus who was a Jewish synagogue administrator.

Jairus came searching for Jesus to heal his dying 12 year old daughter. He had heard of the healings that Jesus had recently done and out of desperation sought Jesus' help. This next part is the important part: Jesus said to Jarvis, "Don't be afraid; just keep trusting." Jesus took with him three of his disciples, James, John and Peter and went to Jarvis's house too late because she had already died.

When they went upstairs to the room that the little girl laid, Jesus put his hands on her, prayed, and she came back to life! He told those present in the room, not to tell anybody about this because it would really stir up a lot of trouble for him. He had not done any miracles in public yet.

LESSON

The phrase "do not be afraid" is written many, many, many times throughout the Bible. One time that I'm sure you remember is when the angels appeared to the shepherds at Jesus birth to not be afraid. Also, after that phrase is written, it is implied many times, that you must TRUST! Trust in what? That is a great question that I think by now you know the answer. You must trust that God will be with you, help you, comfort you, take care of you, and love you in all circumstances.

In closing I will quote my most favorite verse in the Old Testament from Isaiah 43:1, "Do not be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by name, you are mine."

The words after that are wonderful too, but I'll let you look it up if you want. It starts with verse two and goes through half of verse four. 💕
