LESSON
In Greek the word light is phos. John, the author of these two verses, knew a lot about Greek. Also, when the Bible was translated, it was translated from the Greek language.
So for us what does light mean? Humans need light.
Scientifically, our light comes from the sun. Without the sun we would not have heat or solar energy. This makes it possible for life to exist on earth. Plants need sunlight to grow. Humans need plants for food to consume and the oxygen that they produce plus vitamin D. Without heat from the sun, we would freeze. So we need light to survive! Also light energizes every cell in our body! Healthy bodily cells keep us alive, too.
Spiritually, Jesus/God is that light we need, that light from Him to walk through any darkness, or evil. He is the source of spiritual guidance and truth, illuminating the path for us to navigate through the darkness. He guides us away from sin and toward righteousness and eternal life. Jesus is life!💕
