SCRIPTURE
Deuteronomy 5: 12-15. Old Testament
God gave Moses ten commands which he wrote on stone tablets on Mount Sinai. I will quote the beginning of the fourth one:
"Observe the sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the Lord, your God has commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it, you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or your daughter , nor your male or female servant, nor your ox, your donkey or any of your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns, so that your male and female service may rest as you do."
LESSON
The keeping of this commandment has slowly disintegrated. Many people do use the morning in worship by going to church and I can remember when stores and businesses were closed on Sunday so the people could rest. Other people choose to honor the sabbath by doing restful things, but one should always remember that day is God's day. God created the Earth in six days and on the seventh day God rested. That is in Genesis.💕
