It's Not Pizza Love

SCRIPTURE

1 John 5: 1-5. New Testament

John wrote a lot about love, spiritual,  Christian love,  not I love pizza love. He is called “The disciple of Love,” because I guess he wrote so much about it.

I will quote the first three verses,

“ Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God, and caring out his commands. In fact, this is love for God to keep his commands.”

LESSON

This is a simple down to the bottom line (as your daddy always tells me!) statement, isn’t it. The first and greatest commandments are about love, love God…and love your neighbor. Everything in the Bible points to God/Jesus and his great love for us his children. So much so that he gave up his life for us. One cannot even imagine the magnitude of this great love—to do this freely and lovingly for us. Why did he do this? So that we would believe in him, that he was God in human form sent down to us from heaven and give us salvation. At that time first century A.D., the Jewish people were looking for a Messiah king who would come and save them from Roman oppression. Yes, he did come to save us, but not from Rome, but to save us from sin and give us eternal life. No greater love can someone have then to lay down his life for his children.💕
