SCRIPTURE

Daniel 3: 16-18 Old Testament

Read the Lion's Den  That story should be read before this one because it happened along the same time.

There were three Israelite friends and they were in exile in Babylon with Daniel.  Jewish people were displaced there because their homeland was conquered by the Babylonians and taken captive for about 70 years.  The king for this story is Nebuchadnnezzar.  These friends were punished for not bowing down to the king's image, the statues, and idols of pagan gods  because their god was God.Because of this disobedience and under the king's command, they were bound fully clothed and thrown into a blazing, fiery furnace.  After awhile, when death was certain, the king peered into the furnace and saw four men walking atop of the flames!  They weren't singed or even smelly when they came out of the furnace!  Only the rope that bound them was burned.  The fourth man, who was he? It was obvious he was there to protect them. He was a heavenly, supernatural being perhaps an angel  Some even say it was a pre-incarnate appearance of Jesus.  These friends were Shadrack, Meshach and Abedego.

LESSON

Trust in God, no matter how dire the situation. Everyone has trials in life, but remember God is your final destiny  Be thankful for you are His!  Put your faith and trust in God.
