SCRIPTURE: Matthew 6: 9-13 New Testament (Lord's Prayer)
The above prayer is the prayer Jesus gave us as an example of how we should pray," In every situation by prayer, petition your requests to God,"
Let's talk about prayer.
Throughout the entire Bible, God's people prayed. God commands us to pray, in every situation, in gratitude, praise, confession , reverent adoration, and humble supplication. Billy Graham, a famous evangelist, said, "Prayer is a two-way conversation with God." Colossians 4: 2, " It's the best way to have a true relationship with God." Thessalonians 5: 16-18, "Pray continually, give thanks, give thanks in all circumstances (there's always something to be thankful about even when trouble hits.); for this is God's will for you." Philippians 4:6 says, "In every situation by prayer, petition your requests to God. I am reminded of the hymn, WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS.
What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear;
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O, what peace we often forfeit,
O, what needless pain we bear.
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer.
Have we trials and temptation?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful?
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness
Take it to the Lord in Prayer.
LESSON
Really all the above are lessons but I like the saying,
We need prayer as much as we need air to breathe!
