Today's devotion is about Abraham who was called at first Abram.
SCRIPTURE
Genesis 13: 10-18 first book in the Bible It is the story about Lot, Abram's nephew who lived and traveled with him, and Abram. Both were nomads and had many flocks, herds and tents. Basically the land could not support both groups of people so they parted ways.
Verse 14: "The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, look around from where you are to the north and south, the east and west on the land that you see, I will give to you and your offspring forever. I will make your offspring like the dust of the Earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted. Go walk through the length and breadth of the land for I am giving it to you." What a land grant!!
LESSON
Apparently the land Abram picked was the less desirable portion. He gave up the well-watered land by the Jordan to Lot. Hum! Why?
God had made him a promise for the future. That future was amazingly wonderful. It promised him that his descendants would be so numerous as the dust of the Earth, which, if you tried to count it, you couldn't. In other words, despite having the lesser favorable land, his future would be bright and amazing.
That's an outlook many people can't understand. They will go for all the gusto right now. Gusto meaning more favorable results now in the present. But God's people have another point of view. We know that no matter what our circumstances are now, God has something better for us later on! Live for Jesus now, and you'll live for eternity! 💞
